GIMP is a free graphics tool that can be used by both Windows and Mac users. Here are some of it’s features:

  • Simple graphic functions like those found in the Windows ‘Paint’ program

And because it is open source and designed to be expandable and extensible it means plug-ins can be installed to increase functionality.

So…What is Paint.NET?

This is a free tool for Windows that allows users to manipulate images.

Don’t get this tool confused with the Paint utility that ships with Windows, this is so much more. It includes features such as layering, special effects and unlimited undo history. Paint.NET has also been designed with the beginner in mind, so should be easier to pick up than the likes of Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter Pro.
